What is BIM?

BIM stands for Building Information Modelling. BIM is not software. BIM is a process for making a digital replica of the existing or proposed buildings for visualization and another process. It's like experiencing the building in the digital world before it's actually built in a real environment.

Before BIM was implemented in the construction industry there were a lot of clashes at the site as too many people ( stakeholders) were involved in the lifetime of a building and there was a lack of communication between each one of them.

Apart from solving visualization problems and streamlining the communication between the stakeholder, BIM also helps in project management. It also helps in combining the idea and requirements of each stakeholder in a single platform and producing concise output and deliverables.

In the future, all construction industries will be based on BIM. so in order to survive in AECO ( Architecture, Engineering, Construction ) industry one should learn and practice BIM.
