Best software set for Structural design and drawing?
1 – Staad pro + staad foundation + RCDC + Tekla Structure
Pros-
· Oldest Software in Industry
· Easy to find a trained person as it is the oldest running software
· Even Older structure designer knows about Staad and value staad results
· Very efficient in designing steel structure
· Easy to use Staad editor to command and edit by writing codes
Cons
· Lengthy design process
· Visualization is not efficient
· Lack some function in concrete design which other software have
· Some modern design concepts like flat slabs and drop panels are hard to design
· Not so efficient in designing the slab
· Superstructure and substructure have to be designed in separate environments
2- Etabs + Safe + SAP200 + Revit Structure
Pros
· Same accuracy and efficiency as other software
· Very efficient in designing high-rise concrete buildings
· Very good visualization
· Modern design technology like drop panels, flat slabs, etc are easy to design
Cons
· Only the building can be designed
· Other structural elements like slab and stairs have to be designed in other software like SAP 2000 or Ansys
· Comparatively large file size
· Not a lot of trained people are there
· Older structure designers do not recognize tabs much and don’t value its results
· Superstructure and substructure have to be designed in separate environments
3 – Autodesk Robot
Pros
· Superstructure and substructure can be designed in the same interface
· New software so contains all tools for designing all new structural elements used in modern construction like drop panels etc
· Easy to generate output as AutoCAD is a product of the same company Autodesk
· Easy compatibility with any other structure designing and detailing software like Staad and etabs
· Efficiency and accuracy are the same as other software
Cons
· New software so not many trained persons are available
· Older structural engineers don’t know about Autodesk Robot and do not value its results
